VIII. Advanced Practice Nursing: Aggregate/Systems/Organizational Focus

  1. Conduct a comprehensive and systematic assessment of health and illness parameters in complex situations, incorporating diverse and culturally sensitive approaches.

  2. Design, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions based on nursing science and other sciences.

  3. Develop an sustain therapeutic relationships and partnerships with patients (individuals, family or group) and other professionals to facilitate optimal care and patient outcomes.

  4. Demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment, systems thinking, and accountability in designing, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes.

  5. Guide, mentor, and support other nurses to achieve excellence in nursing practice.

  6. Educate and guide individuals and groups through complex health and situational transitions.

  7. Use concepts and analytical skills in evaluating the links among practice, organizational, population, fiscal, and policy issues.

Virginia Nurses Association Leadership

 

From 2017 to 2019, I served as the Virginia Nurses Association Piedmont Chapter President, attending annual leadership summits and hosting chapter events. During my term, I planned and hosted a Legislative Reception, Student Outreach Night, Chapter Meet and Greet, and several educational webcasts.

In 2018, I completed the year-long AONL Nurse Manager Fellowship, a professional

development program to target unique leadership needs of nurse managers through

an in-depth environment of learning. The fellowship enhanced my ability to lead 

change to advance health, based on the Nurse Manager Learning Domain Framework.

March of Dimes Excellence in NICU Leadership

As pictured above, I was awarded the March of Dimes Excellence in NICU Leadership Award by Synova Associates for demonstrating understanding of complex issues facing health care and applying that knowledge to the care of patients and operation of the unit; meaningful and engaging care for self, team, and patients/families; and courage to be both strong and empathetic when the situation demands. At the 2019 leadership forum, I also presented, The Proof is in the Huddle: Improving Team Engagement and Discharge Readiness through Daily Visual Management
