In the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, NICU visitation was severely restricted with babies limited to only visit by only one parent/care partner per day. Already stressed families were devastated. As such, I applied for and was awarded a $25,000 Pamper's Technology grant to outfit many of our bed spaces with AngelEye cameras. These cameras provide live stream video, allowing parents 24/7 visualization of their infants in the NICU. Video access can also be shared with loved ones across the country and around the globe. See the above link to access the media release.
Later in the pandemic, our institution's telemedicine department received an additional grant to not only serve the remaining beds with cameras but to upgrade existing cameras. System upgrades included features such as night vision and touch screen and the installation of a communication platform and education solution. The communication platform permits one way text messaging from providers to families and the upload of virtual rounding and other videos. AngelEye also allows access to downloaded discharge videos and other educational material and even captures family compliance with viewing. Every family in the NICU at UVA Children's now has access to this amazing technology.

As a part of implementation, I created this care partner authorization form vetted through Risk Management, Legal Counsel, and the Forms Committee for approval as an official document and barcoded for medical records scanning into Epic. In addition and in collaboration with the project team, we created a care partner information sheet, available in both English and Spanish.

As described in the the Powerpoint exemplar #2 for DNP Essential II, this screenshot is the Epic Capacity Management dashboard created in collaboration with Business Intelligence and Revenue Access Cycle team colleagues. This HIT tool is now a primary resource to guide staffing and bed management within the Children's hospital to enhance patient progression and throughput.
As described in my DNP scholarly paper and presentation exhibited in exemplar #2 of DNP Essential III, here depicts screen shots of the customized remote patient monitoring platform built for iPads using Locus Health software. Pictured are the dashboard overview with abnormal vital signs alerted in red, and a sample trend of a patient's health data.
